• Marygrove Community Association Breaks Ground on Community Park

(DETROIT – Oct. 1, 2021) The Marygrove Community Association, a non-profit organization based on the westside of Detroit, today celebrated the groundbreaking of a new greenspace to be named Huntington Community Park, which sits in the Marygrove community of the Fitzgerald neighborhood. The Association transformed the grounds, located at 16176 Kentucky Street, from three vacant lots in the area. Once completed, residents will have a new civic gathering space to host events, display art, walk, sit, and relax.

Development of the new park is made possible by a generous $35,000 donation from Huntington Bank and support from the Detroit Collaborative Design Center (DCDC) at the Detroit Mercy School of Architecture, as well as a community development grant from the Ford Motor Company Fund. The Wayne County Commission and General Motors – through the Skilled Volunteer Program of Michigan Community Resources – also provided support for the new park initiative.
